1. Where are you from?
My dad was in the Air-force so I traveled a lot when I was young. I was born in Pensacola, Florida but have been in Charleston since I was 12.
2. Do you have any kids or fur babies?
I have 3 wonderful children, 2 of whom work here at the salon My oldest, Maclane, is a stylist alongside me and my husband, Glenn. My son, Housten, actually works right next door at five loaves. My youngest, Maddy, handles the inventory and operations side of things for Bayside.
3. What is your favorite Charleston activity?
I enjoy walking around downtown and just hanging out around the water. I really love taking advantage of all of the great restaurants we have here. If you have a favorite I always love to hear about it!
4. What is your favorite restaurant?
I am a big fan of Mexican food and my favorite place is called Carmen y Juans in Park West. Its a family business with great quality food.
5. How did you get started with this career?
My biggest role model my whole life was my mother, she was a hair stylist and passed on her passion for the industry to me. I always loved the atmosphere of a salon growing up and following in my moms footsteps felt right to me.
6. How many years have you been in the industry?
I have been doing hair for 37 years! I have recently shifted my focus to the managerial side of things which I have really found to be my niche.
7. What is your favorite service to do?
I wouldn’t say that I have a favorite service but I really enjoy getting peoples hair healthy by using the right products for them and by learning when its best to get a service and when its best to wait.
8. What is your favorite product?
My favorite products are Pureology root lift and anti-split. The root lift gives great volume at the root while the anti-split adds moisture and shine to the ends.
9. What is your hot hair tip?
Even if you are trying to grow your hair out, a trim every 4-6 weeks to keep your ends thick and healthy will give you hair that you love so much more in the long run.

Don’t tightly braid wet hair, if you do the pressure will build up and when you take the braids out you will get a headache.

My favorite product is the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo! I can not talk about this product enough, it is great for my hair! I feel like I just washed my hair whenever I use it.
9. What is your hot hair tip?
To get the best result with your curls you should curl away from your face with the strands of hair closest to your face and then alternate all the way to the back. One curled away from the face and then one towards the face, this gets you those individual curls instead of them all running together and looking like one big wave in your hair.
